According to KSEB, over 75 lakh customers are having free electricity . The power supply is completely free for BPL consumers who have a connected load of 500 watts and use 40 units for 2 months. They have also been waived a fixed charge. BPL customers who are using a 1000 watts connected load and 80 units for 2 months will continue to provide electricity at the current rate of Rs 1.50. They have also been waived a fixed charge.
BPL households with a connected load of 1000 watts are permanently member limited by cancer patients and polio / accident, if they are available for 2 months to 200 units at a cost of Rs.
Endosulfan provides relief to affected patients for a period of 2 months to 300 units at a cost of Rs 1.50. This benefit is not provided if the bi-monthly consumption exceeds 500 units.
For domestic customers who use up to 240 units for 2 months, they will be paying a subsidy of 35 paise per unit for the first 80 units, 50 paise per unit for 81-240 units, and Rs.
Agricultural consumers (LT- 5 A) get a subsidy of 85 paise per unit. All power supplies for life saving equipment are provided free of charge. 60% (75 lakh) consumers come under the above subsidy / benefits scheme.
